Chinese Han Dynasty Glazed Pottery “Ear” / Wine Cup with Oxford TL Test

This pottery cup, often referred to as an “ear cup”, was made during the Han Dynasty (206 BC – AD 220). It is made from quite high-fired pottery, having a distinct ring to it when tapped. Apart from the base, it has been coated in a green glaze that has, as a result of long burial in damp conditions, degraded. There is a chip to the rim edge and to the base. Length 13.25 cm (5.2 inches).

This cup has been tested by Oxford Authentications, the ONLY testers of ancient pottery accepted by all major dealers, auction houses and museums worldwide, and the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report that will accompany this cup is shown; this confirms the date of manufacture as "between 1500 and 2400 years ago".
