Chinese Monochrome White Porcelain Bowl – Tek Sing Shipwreck c.1822

This bowl was recovered from the Tek Sing shipwreck, the cargo of which was sold at Nagel’s auctioneers in Germany in 2000. It is relatively “heavily-potted” and its surface has a nice “silky” feel to it. It is coated in a finely-crackled glaze. The surface is stained in places and there are also some sea-growths still adhering to the surface.

The majority of recovered shipwreck ceramics will of course have some degree of wear / damage / chips etc.. This, however, is in very good condition with no repair or restoration. Diameter 16 cm (6.25 inches).
