Korean Koryo Dynasty Celadon Stoneware Bowl (with riveted repair)
This stoneware bowl was made during the Koryo Dynasty (AD 918 - 1392). It is glazed all over in a thick finely-crackled celadon glaze. The inner surface has a “rippled” feeling which may be moulded decoration obscured by the thickness of the glaze, or simply uneven glaze. There are two areas of damage at the rim, both next to each other. One area has had a section broken out and re-stuck with an historical riveted repair. Next to this is a similar area showing cracks although here there is no sign of repair. Opposite this is a repaired chip to the inner rim. Diameter 18.5 cm (7.25 inches).
