Small Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Qingbai Porcelain Censer
This small censer was made during the 13th or 14th century (Song dynasty AD 960 -1279, Yuan dynasty AD 1279 – 1368). Looking inside shows it was made in two parts, upper and lower, that were luted together. There are two bands of moulded beaded decoration surrounding the body. It stands on three short feet that also have moulded decoration. The outer wall and mouth are coated in a crackled pale green Qingbai glaze.
Diameter 7.5 cm (3 inches). The glaze has flaked a little from the surface in places, especially around the mouth edge where it is at its thinnest. The crackle of the glaze is also stained a little in places. However, there is no repair or restoration.
