Fine Japanese Black Oribe Tea Bowl – Edo Period

This fine Black Oribe tea bowl is “shoe-shaped” and decorated with a lattice design. It dates to the Edo period (1615 – 1868). Maximum diameter 13 cm, height 7.25 cm. It is in fine condition with no restoration or repair.

For information: this bowl has been part of Brian Page’s private collection for more than twenty years, not previously been offered for sale. A fine reference book for such items, and where similar bowls are described and illustrated is “Shino & Oribe Ceramics” by Ryoichi Fujioka (ISBN 0-87011-284-8).
