Small Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jar - Fo Dog
This small blue & white porcelain jar, or jarlet, dates to the 16th century. It is quite heavily-potted, has a flared mouth and is coated in a thick crackled glaze. The underglaze blue decoration features two dogs of fo and a star pattern around the shoulder. The base remains unglazed and has fired to a pale reddish-brown. Around the mouth edge is minor "fritting" to the glaze, invariably seen on such ware of this period. Height 7 cm. It is in good condition with no repair or restoration.
