Small Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Jar - Bird & Peach
This small blue & white porcelain jar, or jarlet, dates to the 16th century. The underglaze blue pattern is very unusual for such a jar, with the main decoration featuring the same design on opposing sides of the jar, a bird on a branch apparently pecking at a peach. Around the shoulder are precious objects. The colour of the thick glaze does vary in places, as does the crackle of the glaze, obviously due to uneven conditions in the kiln during firing.
Height 8.5 cm (3.33 inches). This jar is in good condition with no repair or restoration.
