Small Chinese Blue & White "Cafe au Lait" Porcelain Dish - Kangxi
This small dish was made in the late 17th century during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. The underglaze blue decoration features a landscape. The outer wall is coated with a brown glaze. To the base is a single-character mark, within double rings. The thick glaze has sagged in places around the rim edge.
Diameter 11.5 cm (4.5 inches). There is minor surface wear to the glaze. There is no repair or restoration.
This dish was recovered from a shipwreck by Captain Michael Hatcher of "Hatcher Cargo" fame.
