Small Chinese Blue & White "Cafe au Lait" Porcelain Dish - Kangxi
This small dish was made in the late 17th century during the Kangxi reign (1662 - 1722) of the Qing Dynasty. The attractive underglaze blue decoration features flower blossoms to the centre and around the rim. The outer wall is coated with a brown glaze. To the base is a mark, possibly a character, within double rings.
Diameter 11.5 cm (4.5 inches). The glaze is a little "frosted" and stained from long submersion in seawater. There is no repair or restoration.
This dish was recovered from a shipwreck by Captain Michael Hatcher of "Hatcher Cargo" fame.
