Chinese Ming Dynasty Small Blue & White Porcelain Jar
This small jar (or jarlet) was made during the latter part of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). Although it is blue & white porcelain, conditions in the kiln during its manufacture have resulted in the underglaze blue decoration being very dark and a body colour of a pinkish-brown ! It is coated in a crackled glaze. The base remains unglazed and has fired to a reddish brown. It is an interesting example and is in fine condition with no restoration or repair. Height 7.5 cm.
This jarlet, together with some other South-East Asian & Chinese ceramics we are offering for sale, has come from a local collection, established over the last twenty years or so.
