Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Small Stoneware Jar
The small jar, or jarlet, was made during the latter part of the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) or possibly the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368). It is coated in a brown glaze, its coverage of the body being a little uneven due to its thickness. It stands on a heavily-potted foot that remains unglazed. Diameter 6.5 cm. There is minor glaze loss to the edge of the vulnerable mouth edge, but overall it is in good condition with no repair or restoration.
This jarlet, together with some other South-East Asian & Chinese ceramics we are offering for sale, has come from a local collection, established over the last twenty years or so.
