Khmer 10th - 11th Century Glazed Stoneware Bottle
This very rare pear-shaped bottle was made during the 10th -11th Century. It is quite "heavily-potted" and is coated in a thin greyish-green glaze that falls short of the flat base to reveal the pale grey stoneware body. There are a few small surface chips to the mouth edge but there is no sign of restoration or repair. Height 14 cm (5.5 inches).
This bottle, together with some other South-East Asian & Chinese ceramics we are offering for sale, has come from a local collection, established over the last twenty years or so.
