Thai 14th - 15th Century Sawankhalok Celadon Jar
This small jar, or bottle, is a product of the Sawankhalok kilns and was made around the 14th - 15th century. It is of very rare form and is quite "heavily-potted" with the upper surface coated in a finely-crackled celadon glaze. It originally would have had two small loop handles but these have clearly been broken and lost, and the remains ground down. Height 8 cm. Despite its losses, it is a rare item and few collectors of South-East Asian ceramics will have an example of this form.
This jar, together with some other South-East Asian & Chinese ceramics we are offering for sale, has come from a local collection, established over the last twenty years or so.
