Rare Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Small Stoneware Jar
This small heavily-potted jar, or jarlet, was made during the 12th - 13th centuries, most likely at one of the kilns in the south where such wares were made for export around Southeast Asia. It is coated in an attractive pale yellowish-green glaze that is finely-crackled. It has a flat unglazed base, revealing the very pale stoneware body. Diameter 7 cm. It is in good condition with some minor surface wear but no restoration or repair.
This jar, together with some other South-East Asian & Chinese ceramics we are offering for sale, has come from a local collection, established over the last twenty years or so.
