Korean Koryo Dynasty Glazed Stoneware Bottle
This stoneware bottle dates to the Koryo Dynasty (AD 918 - 1392). It is quite "heavily-potted" and is glazed all over, save for the flat base, in a speckled dark olive-green glaze. The glaze is quite thick and glossy although towards the base it thins a little and is a little matt in appearance. It has a cup-shaped mouth and has two incised lines around the shoulder.
Height 25.5 cm (10 inches). There is a short firing "fissure" toward the base, clearly caused during firing by a piece of grit in the pottery, but we would not class this as a crack. However, there are two chips to the rim edge that have been filled and painted over; otherwise, condition is good.
