Chinese Warring States Impressed Pottery Jar (475 - 221 BC)
This pottery jar was made over 2,000 years ago during the Warring States period (475 - 221 BC) using the coiling method as is clearly seen when looking inside the vessel. It is "heavily-potted" and relatively highly-fired, having a distinct ring when tapped. Almost the entire outer surface has been decorated by the repeated geometric impressions.
Diameter 19 cm (7.5 inches). It is a very nice example of its type in good condition with no repair or restoration and just minor chips to the underside rim edge.
