Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Incised Qingbai Porcelain Bowl
This attractively-shaped porcelain bowl was made during the 13th - 14th century. The inner surface is decorated with lightly incised curved parallel lines. It is coated in a Qingbai type of glaze of a pale green with a hint of blue. The flat foot remains unglazed.
Diameter 17 cm (6.75 inches). There is minor surface wear and, although it is free from restoration or repair, there are minor chips to the underside of the rim edge, and what is clearly an old and stained hairline crack to the wall, possibly from a crackle in the glaze during manufacture as some of the glaze crackles do appear to penetrate the body.
For information: Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279), Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368).
