Thai 14th - 15th Century Incised Sawankhalok Celadon Bowl

This heavily-potted stoneware bowl was made at the Sawankhalok kilns during the 14th - 15th Century. It is a little misshapen. It is coated in a bluish-green glaze that is finely-crackled. To the inner surface, under the glaze, are lightly incised bands of decoration. On the outer wall the glaze stops short of the foot where the unglazed body has fired to a reddish-brown. In the centre of the recessed base can be seen the mark form the pontil on which this bowl stood in the kiln during firing. Interestingly, this bowl was excavated in Cambodia.

Diameter 12.5 cm. This bowl is in fine condition with no restoration or repair.
