Small Chinese Ming Dynasty Blue & White Porcelain Dish - Peach & Bird
This small porcelain dish was made during the mid to late 16th century (c. 1560 - 1590). The underglaze blue decoration features a bird perched upon a branch of a peach tree. The underside is more simply decorated with just two thin blue bands circling the rim and foot ring, and a basic seal mark to the base.
The peach represents marriage and is a symbol of immortality and springtime.
Diameter 10.25 cm. It is in good overall condition with no repair or restoration. To the rim edge is a fine hairline; there are two further "lines" to the outer wall but these are stained scratches, not cracks.
