Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Moulded Dehua Qingbai Porcelain Box
This covered box was made during the 13th - 14th century, most likely at the Dehua kilns in Fujian province. Both upper and lower parts are decorated with moulded patterns. The centre of the cover is decorated with a floral pattern surrounded by a fluted pattern. The wall of the lower section is also "fluted". Both inner and outer surfaces are coated in a qingbai glaze that has just a hint of blue. The slightly concave base remains unglazed.
This is a large example of its type with a diameter of 17 cm. This is a very nice example and, although there is no repair or restoration, there are minor chips to the "sharp" edge of the lower section.
