SALE PRICE (was £ 120 )
This blue & white porcelain bowl was made during the late 15th - early 16th century. It is coated in a crackled glaze and decorated in underglaze blue with an elaborate scrolling floral pattern interspersed with various precious objects. In places the glaze crackle penetrates the body of the bowl and, over time, the crackle of the glaze has taken on the colour of the burial soil.
Quite a large bowl with a diameter of 18 cm (7 inches). There are a couple of tiny rim chips to the rim edge, kiln scars to the glaze in places, and a small section at the rim that has been re-stuck.
