Large Chinese Song / Yuan Dynasty Longquan Celadon Dish
This large and "heavily-potted" dish was made in the 12th - 13th Century at the Longquan kilns in Zhejiang Province. It is coated in a thick and finely-crackled pale celadon glaze save for the centre of the recessed base that has fired to a pale burnt-red colour. The inner surface is decorated with incised lotus leaf panels although this is partly obscured by the thickness of the glaze.
Diameter 27.75 cm (11 inches). There are two or three hairline cracks that penetrate the body. There is also a filled chip to the underside of the rim edge. A rare opportunity to acquire a sizeable example of GENUINE ancient Longquan celadon ware at an affordable price.
