Rare Vietnamese 14th Century Celadon Glazed Incised Stoneware Bowl
This rare stoneware bowl was made during the 14th century. The inner surface is decorated with incised lines forming six panels, with six decorative notches at the rim edge matching these lines. The attractive pale yellowish-green glaze is finely-crackled. To the glaze on the inner surface are "spur marks" left by kiln spacers.
Diameter 16.5 cm (6.5 inches). Condition is very good: there are a couple of small areas where the glaze has a course appearance but this is from manufacture and is certainly not damage; there is no restoration or repair.
For information: this is one of a group of five Vietnamese bowls we are offering that have come from a private English collection, reported to have been acquired whilst travelling in Vietnam during the mid 1980s.
