SALE Pair Chinese Sui Dynasty Glazed Pottery Ladies + Oxford TL Test

This wonderful pair of ladies was made during the Sui Dynasty (AD 581 - 618). They are made from a creamy-white pottery and coated in an attractive pale yellow/straw glaze that is finely-crackled. Note the detail to the clothing, the hairstyle and especially the faces: exquisite !

These are from a long-established private English collection and come with a custom-made display stand. They are not perfect condition, but we can excuse that in view of their beauty and great age: both have had the heads broken and re-stuck at the vulnerable necks and one has been broken and re-suck at the waist and lower body. There are also minor chips to the edges of the thinnest part of the hairstyles (please study the images). The height of each figure, not including the stand, is 26 cm (or 29 cm including the stand). The length of the stand is 24 cm.

As with many of our rarer and finer items, we had one figure tested by Oxford Authentications, the ONLY testers of ancient pottery accepted by ALL major dealers, auction houses and museums worldwide, and the Thermoluminescence Analysis Report that will accompany these figures is shown with our pictures above; this confirms the date of manufacture as "between 1,000 and 1,600 years ago".
