Chinese 19th Century Glazed Stoneware Shipwreck Jar (not Song)

Many years ago we bought a small group of jars of this type. We were told they dated to the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and had been in storage, having several years earlier been recovered from a shipwreck off Thailand. To the base of each jar is written an inventory number (we were told around 200 of these jars were excavated but how accurate this is, we do not know). Around the neck of each jar is a cardboard label (with a rusting metal eye commensurate with these having been in storage for some time) and a lead seal, the label and seal apparently being official Thai permission allowing these to be exported from Thailand. 

However, we doubted the Song Dynasty attribution, preferring to date these to probably the 18th or 19th century. We eventually found out exactly what they are, with thanks to Wil Hugers from The Netherlands: such jars in fact date to the 19th century, with similar examples in the collection of the Princesshof Museum, their use being to contain fermented vegetables. Other sellers, however, continue to misrepresent jars from the same source as dating to the Song Dynasty!

This jar is glazed in a deep brown speckled, teadust-type glaze, with the glaze on the outer surface falling short of the unglazed base. There is a small chip to its rim and footring but no restoration or repair. Diameter 12.5 cm (5 inches).
