Fine & Rare Tall Chinese Eastern Jin Dynasty Figure
This interesting and extremely rare pottery model of a soldier or attendant was made around the 4th - 5th century, during the Eastern Jin Dynasty (AD 317 - 420). Note the degree of attention to detail in the heavy quilted clothing; we can learn much about the clothing of various periods in Chinese history from pottery figures such as this. It is quite "heavily-potted" and has been "cold painted" in various coloured pigments, good traces of which still remain.
Height 33 cm (13 inches). There is no repair or restoration as is confirmed by looking inside the hollow body; fine condition.
