Seto potter Ito Shirozaemon produced large quantities of these plates in various sizes and different coloured backgrounds. Mt Fuji has been applied with a technique called moriage where it sits on the surface of the plate as a buildup of the porcelain. Marked ‘Senpoen’, the name of Ito Shirozaemon’s kiln these delightful plates are classic pieces of Japanese porcelain decorated with the country’s ultimate symbol. Mark: Four character “Senpoen zo” in underglaze blue to the base Period: Meiji Period, late 19th to early 20th centuries. Size: 3 cm high, 21.3 cm diameter Condition: fine
