Shimizu Bizan (1861-1926), A tea bowl with Mount Fuji and pines. A warmly coloured tea bowl in enamelled stoneware decorated with Mount Fuji enveloped in a golden cloud with a forest of pines in the foreground, by master potter from the Kutani kilns, Bizan Shimizu. Original tomobako. Mark: four character mark “Kutani Bizan” in iron red within two semi circular cartouches to the side just above the footrim. Origin: Kutani kilns, Kaga Province, Japan. Period: late Meiji/early Taisho Period, circa late 19th to early 20th centuries. Size: 12.3cm diameter, 6.3cm high. Condition: fine.
