A beautiful pair of fine Hirado blue and white porcelain covered bowls decorated all over with birds sitting in flowering tree branches. Provenance: This pair of bowls was exhibited in the exhibition “The Japanese Aesthetic” organised by the Ceramic and Glass Circle of Victoria, in 2006 and 2007. Mark: four character mark “Hirado Kasho” to the base of the bowl and top of the lid in underglaze blue. Origin: Hirado kilns, Japan. Period: Meiji Period, circa late 19th Century. Size: 10.5cm diameter, 7cm high. Condition: fine
