Miyanaga Tozan II (1918-1979), a relief carved celadon box with deer and crane. A beautiful deer and crane and auspicious characters are carved in relief on the lid of this celadon porcelain box by master ceramicist Miyanaga Tozan II. There is a lengthy eighteen character inscription to the base, indicating that it was possibly a special commission. Original tomobako and sealed wrapping cloth. Mark: hand incised two character mark "Tozan" within a square, following the inscription. Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Period: Showa Period, circa 1960s. Size: 7cm high, 11cm wide. Condition: fine.
