Heian Yozan, a large celadon vase carved with hollyhock flowers. A large Kyoto porcelain vase with incredibly subtle carving of a spray of hollyhock flowers and foliage to two sides, covered in a very fine blue green celadon glaze of the tone sometimes referred to as “Kinuta” in Japan, referring to the very finest celadons of China’s Southern Song Dynasty. Mark: a two character impressed oval mark “Yozan” to the center of the base. Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Period: Taisho/Showa Period, circa first half 20th Century. Size: 30.5cm high, 18cm diameter. Condition: Fine.
