A pair of lobed rim porcelain dishes each decorated with a writhing dragon chasing a flaming pearl amidst clouds in cobalt blue, and overglaze green, yellow, red and aubergine, by Takahashi Dohachi, probably the fourth or fifth generation. Mark: “Kachutei Dohachi zo” in underglaze blue to the base. Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Period: late Meiji Period. Size: 15.3cm diameter, 3cm high. Condition: one dish with a small amount of flaking to the yellow enamel to one section of the dragon’s belly, the other dish fine.
