Koyo Yamazaki (1890-1979). A modernist studio stoneware vase decorated in cobalt blue with abstract flowing lines beneath a sea green copper glaze, by master potter Koyo Yamazaki. Koyo studied under Rokubei VI, and exhibited often in the annual Nitten exhibition and was the recipient of numerous awards. His works are held in numerous international public collections as well as the Japanese Imperial family collection. Mark: two character impressed “koyo” mark to the base. Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Period: Showa Period, circa 1950s. Size: 28cm high, 13cm diameter. Condition: fine.
