A stoneware kyusu (side-handled teapot), in the manner of Edo period master and co-founder of the Rimpa design school, Ogata Kenzan. This large teapot is decorated with a white slip over the stoneware body, and brouadly painted stylised autumnal red maple leaves with the veins picked out in gilding, and with rich iron brown glaze details to the mouthrim, handle, spout and handle tip. Mark: Painted running script “sei” in iron brown to the spout for Rokubei VI. Origin: Kyoto, Japan. Period: Showa Period, circa 1950s. Size: 11cm high, 18.5cm wide. Condition: fine.
