SOLD A small stoneware dish with high sides in the form of a dead leaf, the unctuous crackled creamy shino glaze pulling back in parts, over iron decoration picking out the veins and borders of the leaf. This is a very unusual small bowl for the tea ceremony kaiseki meal, the essence of late Edo or Meiji period wabi sabi taste. Mark: unmarked. Origin: Seto or Kyoto, Japan. Period: Late Edo to Meiji Period, circa 19th Century. Size: 8.5cm wide, 3.5cm high. Condition: fine.
