Pair of fine figural Art Nouveau candelabra. Polished pewter maidens representing Day and Night. One figure with eyes gazing forward while the companion gazes downward. Naturalistic lily pad bases support the whispy figures each grasping vine-like stems; candle cups rest at their top. Made by Argentor in Austria circa 1905. Firm's marks upon bases. 13" H, 6 3/4 W".
Rare example of a Liberty Tudric pewter charger designed by Archibald Knox. The wide rim is mounted with five intertwining Art Nouveau florals, each set with abalone shell. A similar example is pictured in "Liberty Style," by Victor Arwas, page 100. Marks: Tudric 0108; England circa 1902-05. A fine specimen for the collector of works by Knox, Liberty's most famous designer. Knox works can be found in museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria & Albert Museum, British Museum and Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. 9 1/2" W.
Large Art Nouveau figural mirror. A lovely Alphonse Mucha-inspired maiden forms the mirror's stand. She gazes upward into her own boudoir mirror as her sweeping gown forms a tray beneath. The stunning high Art Nouveau design retains its original double-bevel curving mirror. A detailed cast bird in flight completes the polished pewter form. Germany circa 1900. 14"W., 18 1/2" H.
Large Jugendstil pewter tray by the well-known Orivit workshop of Cologne, Germany, circa 1907. Oval-form tray with flattened ends and open, gently curving handles. An organic wave pattern adorns each end. 13 1/2" W., 20 1/4" L.
