Very fine pair of American Art Deco cocktail goblets designed by Elsa Tennhardt (Germany 1889-1980 America) for the E & J Bass Company of New York in 1928. Conical goblets with elongated, triangular appliques are upheld by wave stems and rest upon triangle bases. The exuberant, avant-garde design reflects elements found in Russian Cubism and Constructivism. An Elsa Tennhardt cocktail set with goblets of this design is in the collection of the Brooklyn Museum of Art as well as the Milwaukee Art Museum. Examples of the designer's work are represented in the collections of institutions, including Dallas Museum of Art and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and have been exhibited at the Smithsonian Cooper Hewitt Museum. 4 7/8" H. each
