Splendid color and ink on horizontal paper scroll, Measuring 24 feet long and 12 inches wide, the paintings take up about 80 inches on this massive scroll. The original Song dynasty colt paintings by (Song) Chao Yuen Chong are in a museum in Tokyo. One brief part of the calligraphy comprising the title of the scroll is "signed" by Song calligrapher Gao Yi from Zhou Jun with a palace seal, and in the calligraphy portion, there is also a reference to the Ming emperor Jiajing...

An impressive color pigment on paper scroll of a large parrot perched on cherry tree, signed Lu Zong Gu. The scroll was exhibited at the Museum fuer Angewandte Kunst in Vienna in the 1930's. Provenance: Acquired prior to 1924.

Thai gilt bronze Buddha, Ratanakosin period, 18th/19th century, the Buddha depicted in "Calming The Ocean" mudra. Both hands repaired at wrist, spire missing but very fine casting.
Measurements: H 15"; teak wood base H 3 1/2".
Provenance: The piece is said to have been owned by a member of the early Chakri dynasty in the late 18th century.

Rare Chinese black ground silk gauze skirt embroidered in couched gold-wrapped thread and satin stitch with a band of eight dragon roundels of dragons pursuing flaming pearls amidst clouds, all above more dragons in similar pursuit, and above cresting waves and lishui stripe; the top of the skirt with a pendant flap (re) also with dragon design; together with a border of floral pattern in tightly woven metallic-wrapped thread. Exceptional gold on lacquer carving in the round, of mythological lion or temple guardian, together with a pair of cubs, resting on rectangular plinth. The figure dates from the 19th century of China's Qing dynasty. Workmanship and style associated with reign of Daoguang (1821-1850). Fine condition with one old repair to neck of one cub.
