Indonesian Reverse Glass Painting depicting scenes from the Mahabharata. The painting appears to be an example of Balinese glass painting, with Chinese, Arabic and wayang/shadow puppet influences, and very likely dates from the very early part of the 20th century. Indonesian reverse glass painting tradition was established in Java and Bali in the 16th and 19th century respectively. There were several well known reverse glass painting artists. The painting is signed. Measurements: H 16 1/2" x 21" sight measurements, with frame 21" x 26". Provenance: Private Collection.
