This mock Chinese export ware armorial plate was made by Samson of Paris in the period 1890-1910. It is decorated to the centre with, what purports to be, the armorial, or family crest, of the Boyd family. This is surrounded with hand painted flowers and raised slip decoration. It is unmarked, but examples are shown in plates 54-7 of "Godden's Guide to European Porcelain". It measures 234 mm (9.25 inches) in diameter. The condition is very good.

This finely moulded Ridgway porcelain lidded sugar bowl is decorated with the hand coloured printed pattern 2/818, which features a large urn and scholars rocks amid floral Chinoiserie. It is unmarked, but corresponds to Plates 99 and 100 in Godden's "Ridgway Porcelains". It stands 140 mm (5.5 inches) to the top of the butterfly knop. The colours are still vibrant and it displays well, however there are some small firing cracks to the inside rim which have been glazed over. C1820-5.

This silver propelling pencil was made by the noted silver firm of Sampson Mordan & Co. of London. The top of the pencil, mounted with banded agate, unscrews to reveal the receptacles for the pencil lead. The extended length is 113 mm (4.5 inches), the retracted length is 88 mm (3.5 inches) and it weighs 12 gms. It is in very good condition. It is stamped with the mark "Sampson Mordan & Co. Makers" which indicates that it dates from the period 1845-52.

The hand painted centre on this Davenport plate is of a farmhouse on the edge of a wood, surrounded by a gilt frame on a pink ground. It measures 229 mm (9 inches) in diameter. This very pretty hand painted jug by Philipp Rosenthal & Co of Kronach in Germany features two cartouches containing delicate portraits of women on a ground of pale green. One of the portraits is signed with the initials A H L and both cartouches are framed in gold. The griffen shaped handle makes this an interesting piece. These two pieces of Gorham sterling silver flatware are decorated with the Versailles pattern, which was introduced in 1888. The butter knife, or possibly a pickle knife, is 165 mm (6.5 inches) in length and weighs 34 gms. The spoon measures 153 mm (6 inches) in length, 38 mm (1.5 inches) across the bowl, and weighs 29 gms. This Wedgwood majolica comport is decorated with green, brown and yellow majolica glazes around a central panel of mottled glazes. The reticulated rim is echoed in the blind moulding to the foot. The diameter is 210 mm (8.25 inches) and it stands 64 mm (2.5 inches) high. The condition is very good, apart from some crazing. The white spot on the rim as seen in the photo below is where the glaze hasn't taken during the last firing. The date letter is for 1866.

This Samson of Paris tea canister is decorated with faux armorial crest on one side and on the other with a spray of flowers. The lid is also decorated with a floral spray. The decoration of the piece is meant to resemble Chinese export ware of over a century before. The canister stands 152 mm (6 inches) high and has a diameter at the shoulder of 110 mm (4.25 inches). The condition is very good apart from a firing crack ex-factory that has been partially filled in the factory. C1890.

This is a very pretty English porcelain boat shaped inkstand. The exterior is coloured an apple green, whilst the interior is decorated with sprays of hand painted flowers, all sitting on a leaf moulded and ribbed base which is enhanced with gilding. This very elegant Susie Cooper Can shape coffee pot, is decorated with the Keystone pattern (pattern C2131 issued in May 1968) in matt black. It stands 200mm high. There are two very small chips to the black on the lid, two small scratches to the pattern on the body and a faint scratch to the glaze near the foot. It dates from 1968-70, from her time with Wedgwood.
