The cartwheel penny was circulated in 1797 as the first British copper penny. The obverse has a portait of George III and the reverse has a seated statue of Brittania. This fairly worn specimen has been converted into a locket with facility for two photographs inside. It is 40 mm (1.5 inches) in diameter, mounted in white metal, and weighs 50 gms, including the chain.

This American advertising tape measure would have been a giveaway for the clients of The Western Empire Insurance Co of Washington. The company was set up in Spokane, Washington in 1907 by Edward J Dahms (1860-1920), and specialised in fire insurance. Possibly by Coalport, this porcelain coffee can and saucer are decorated with a wide blue band to the rim which serves as a background to a gilt pattern of leaves and tendrils. Below this is a frieze of gilt tassels. There are sixteen flutes to the body of the cup, which stands 62 mm (2.5 inches) high and has a diameter of 70 mm (2.75 inches). There is some wear to the gilding, particularly in the centre of the saucer and to the rim of the cup. C1800.

This turned and carved paper knife is made of bone and is a souvenir of Brighton. Made in four sections that screw together, the finial contains a Stanhope that shows five views of Brighton and the English Channel.
