This large sterling silver pig pincushion was made by Adie and Lovekin Ltd of Birmingham in what appears to be 1906 - the date letter is somewhat rubbed, but it is certainly of that period. The length of this muscular pig is 86 mm (3 3/8ths inches), it stands 46 mm (1.75 inches) high and is 28 mm (1 inch) deep. Although structurally sound, there are a few minor dents, a couple of light scratches, and his tail has been pushed in.

The decoration on this pair of Email Ombrant majolica dessert plates from the Rubelles factory is achieved using graduated intaglio designs that are then flooded with the glaze to give form to the design. In some ways it is similar to the technique to create lithophanes. Around each rim are scenes of riders on horseback and camel trains with delicate backgrounds of castles, a ship at sea and forests. The centre decorations are different scenes of European lakes and lakeside buildings. The patent...

This turned and carved paper knife is made of bone and is a souvenir of Brighton. Made in four sections that screw together, the finial contains a Stanhope that shows five views of Brighton and the English Channel. It is 234 mm (9.25 inches) long and still fits together beautifully. However there are two short, very fine cracks to the top and a little bit of damage to the finial. c 1880.

This lovely hand painted and gilded papier mache aide memoire would have certainly caught the eye when taken from the ladies purse or handbag. The decoration, which covers both sides, is very reminiscent of a William Morris panel or wallpaper in the Arts and Crafts style. The insides of the covers are lined with a dark blue silk and there are three leaves of coated card, which allow you to write on them with the pencil, and later erase the note. There are still faint traces of writing on these l...

This hand painted and gilded eight piece dessert set by Grainger Worcester comprises two tazzas and six plates. The pattern number is 3358. The diameter of the plates is 220 mm (8.75 inches). The oval tazza is 280 mm (11 inches) long, 215 mm (8.5 inches) wide and 40 mm (1.5 inches) high. The kidney shaped tazza is...
