This obelisk shaped desk thermometer stands 172mm high and the stepped plinth base measures 63mm square. It is veneered with tortoiseshell, and the thermometer sits on a graduated bone backing. It has lost a very small area of tortoiseshell from the corner of the plinth, and the thermometer, which still reacts to temperature changes, appears to have lost the top of the tube. C1900.
