This obelisk shaped desk thermometer stands 172mm high and the stepped plinth base measures 63mm square. It is veneered with tortoiseshell, and the thermometer sits on a graduated bone backing. It has lost a very small area of tortoiseshell from the corner of the plinth, and the thermometer, which still reacts to temperature changes, appears to have lost the top of the tube. C1900.

Standing 312mm high, this pair of electroplated candlesticks demonstrate the superb quality of the Elkington factory. The intricacy and detail are shown in the fine casting and the silver plating is in wonderful condition. The quality is shown further by the weight-each one weighs just over 1.1 kgs. On the rims under the lift out sconces is stamped the model number 9765. The Elkington stamp is punched into the foot of each one together with the date letter T for 1858.

The base of this early Victorian sewing reel stand and pincushion is veneered with a geometric pattern and the scalloped edge features contrasting light and dark timber. It stands 160mm high, the width of the base is 175mm, it rests on three round brass feet and the reel pins are brass. The base has warped, but because of the three feet it it still stable. It has retained its original patina but has lost a piece of veneer, as can be seen in the photos. C1840.

This bottle-shaped Doulton Lambeth vase is from the Carrara Ware range and was decorated by Mildred B Smallfield with a pattern of enamelled stylized flowers enhanced with gilding on an ivory ground. It dates from 1887-1890 and stands 195mm high. It has two very fine spiral firing cracks to the inside of the rim and the slight loss of gilding.

This hand painted porcelain coffee can is decorated onglaze with a rural scene of a figure walking past a ruined archway. It is unmarked and attributed to the Liverpool factory of Herculaneum. It stands 64mm high and has a diameter of 68mm. This corresponds with plate 283 of Michael Berthoud's "A compendium of British cups". It also matches examples in books on Herculaneum by Alan Smith and Peter Hyland. It has a faint hairline crack to the base, a small chip to the rim and it has also lost some...
