This Royal Worcester porcelain jug is decorated with a lively hand coloured spray of flowers, embellished with gilding, on a cream ground. There is a smaller spray on the reverse. The jug shape is listed as number 1094, which was introduced in 1885, and came in 6 sizes. The height of this one is 155 mm (6 inches). The reeded handle has suffered some rubbing of the gilding, otherwise it is in very good condition. It carries the date code for 1897.

This earthenware scent bottle is designed to be hung from a chatelaine, or worn as a pendant or brooch. Whichever way it was worn, the wearer would be continually enveloped with the scent emanating from the pierced top. At the base is a brass enclosed cork to keep the scent in and allow replenishment when needed. The decoration on both sides is hand gilded and painted flowers and inside there is still the original sponge with its traces of perfume...

This Worcester porcelain coffee cup was originally decorated with what is known as the 'Gold Queen's Pattern", a simple pattern of petal shapes done in gold. Sometime later, an external decorator has added the enamel flower sprays and the piece was re-fired. An indication that the piece has been refired is the presence of black specks that occur in unglazed or thinly glazed areas, like the base or footrim, and there is a small area of these specks inside the footrim...

This Chinese filligree silver gilt card case with a lift off lid measures 88 mm (3.5 inches) in height, 56 mm (2.25 inches) in width and has a thickess of 16 mm (5/8ths of an inch). The central cartouches on either side feature intricate raised filligree work. There are two very small areas of damage to one side and there has been some loss of the gilding where it has been handled. C 1870.

The Ashbourne pattern (pattern 8524) that decorates this Shelley cake plate was designed by Walter Slater and introduced in 1912. It is on the Gainsborough shape and its condition is excellent. This Spode lidded broth bowl on stand is decorated with the hand coloured chinoiserie pattern 2117. The bowl has a diameter of 106 mm (4.25 inches) and stands 100 mm (4 inches) high including the lid. The stand or saucer has a diameter of 158 mm (6.25 inches). As to condition, everything is in good shape apart from a crack to the bowl, which can be seen in the photos. Weighed against that, is that this is a reasonably rare item and to have survived together for close to 200 years is remarkable...

Possibly by Coalport, this porcelain coffee can and saucer are decorated with a wide blue band to the rim which serves as a background to a gilt pattern of leaves and tendrils. Below this is a frieze of gilt tassels. There are sixteen flutes to the body of the cup, which stands 62 mm (2.5 inches) high and has a diameter of 70 mm (2.75 inches). There is some wear to the gilding, particularly in the centre of the saucer and to the rim of the cup. C1800.

This Spode blue and white comport, or footed bowl, would have originally been part of an extensive dessert set. The transfer printed pattern is entitled "Net" and the shape is the "Devonia" shape. It measures 310 mm (12.25 inches) in width, 230 mm (9 inches) in depth and stands 110 mm (4.25 inches) high. The colouring is still quite striking and it is in very good condition apart from a shallow flake taken from the rim and reglued. It measures 18 mm (.75 inch) in length. C 1820.

This wheel thrown mug with a lovely strap handle is decorated with a blue spongeware design of a rooster under a tree. It stands 115 mm (4.5 inches) high and has a diameter at the base of 90 mm (3.75 inches). It has a number of tiny nibbles to its edges and a crack that runs for about 35 mm (1 3/8ths inches) from the rim. It would date from around the middle part of the nineteenth century.

This good quality wall mirror is framed with a typical Arts and Crafts hand beaten and riveted copper surround. On each of the corners is a raised roundel and in the centre of the top rail is a Ruskin type enamel cabochon. It measures 530 mm (21 inches) high, 430 mm (17 inches) wide, and weighs just under 4.5 kgs (10 pounds). It is in very good condition and would date from around 1910.
