This very attractive sterling silver card case with a hinged top, was made by Edward Smith of Birmingham in 1853. Smith was a good maker, noted for making card cases decorated with engine turning and engraving. Interestingly, although it was made in 1853, it carries an engraved name of W Wilson 1867. Inside the case is a visiting or calling card for Mr J D Wilson, presumably a descendant of W Wilson, with details of the case written in pencil on the reverse...

Hand coloured and gilded with the Imari pattern colours of underglaze blue and onglaze iron red this two handled mug by F & R Pratt of Fenton in Staffordshire stands 114mm high with the body having a diameter of 113mm. Although it is unmarked it corresponds with later marked specimens which carry the same pattern and pattern number-No 340. It is reasonable condition with some crazing, some slight loss of the gilding, and a crack to the base as shown in the photo. C1840.

This large Spode boat shaped, lidded soup tureen on stand, is decorated with a hand coloured pattern featuring leaves, flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies. The pattern number is 2/3266 and the impressed date mark is for 1890. The overall height is 275mm, the width 256mm and the length 430mm-quite an impressive piece. There are some small chips to the stand, and as usually happens the ladle has gone missing. Otherwise the condition is very good.

This Minton fruit bowl is from the "Secessionist" range and is decorated in the "Hydrangea" pattern(E3279). The shape number is 3519. It stands 55mm high and is 205mm square. It does have some crazing and there is a thin, 3mm long firing crack to the rim, otherwise it is in excellent condition. This pattern was issued in 1902.

This Wileman Intarsio biscuit barrel is decorated with scenes from Shakespeare's Henry IV part 1-Falstaff. The pattern number is 3500 on the Wileman shape 308. The lid and handle have recently been resilvered, but there are 5 small cracks in the collar that were there before the resilvering. There is also a 7mm long shallow scratch as shown in the photos. This unmarked octagonal WMF visiting card tray is shown in the WMF English catalogue for 1906 as model 190a. It is shown on page 169 of the reprint issued by the Antique Collectors Club in 2008 and its original price was 10 shillings. This very pretty hand painted jug by Philipp Rosenthal & Co of Kronach in Germany features two cartouches containing delicate portraits of women on a ground of pale green. One of the portraits is signed with the initials A H L and both cartouches are framed in gold. The griffen shaped handle makes this an interesting piece. This large, very colourful, Gien Faience, or majolica jardiniere measures 510mm in length, is 295mm wide and stands 180mm high. Coloured by hand, it is in very, very good condition. It does have some scratches on the inside, as you would expect, where pots etc. have stood over the last 145 years, but nothing of any great concern. There is also a small, shallow star crack to the base, as shown in the photo of the mark, but it doesn't come through to the inside...

This Edwardian inlaid mahogany ladies stationery box would grace any ladies desk. The sloping lid is inlaid with a simple Art Nouveau rendition of two carnations.
