Standing 312mm high, this pair of electroplated candlesticks demonstrate the superb quality of the Elkington factory. The intricacy and detail are shown in the fine casting and the silver plating is in wonderful condition. The quality is shown further by the weight-each one weighs just over 1.1 kgs. On the rims under the lift out sconces is stamped the model number 9765. The Elkington stamp is punched into the foot of each one together with the date letter T for 1858.

Lined with red velvet and standing on four ivory bun feet, this delightful tortoiseshell trinket box is further enhanced with the lid being inlaid with engraved mother-of-pearl leaves and flowers on twisted silver wire stems, surrounded by silver stringing. The Ashbourne pattern (pattern 8524) that decorates this Shelley milk jug and sugar bowl was designed by Walter Slater and introduced in 1912. It is on the Gainsborough shape and its condition is excellent. The colours and gilding are still vivid, however it does have a tiny area of discolouration on the shoulder of the jug. C1912-6.
