This fluted milk jug or creamer is by John Rose Coalport and is decorated with a simple repeating pattern painted in puce and purple and connected with gilt ribbons. It is further highlighted with gilding to the rim, foot, handle and the top of the flutes. There are twenty ogee flutes, writhing from left to right and the piece stands 110mm (4.25 inches) high to the top of the handle. It is unmarked but corresponds to a jug shown in Plate 226 of Berthoud's " A Cabinet of British Creamers"...

This large, superbly gilded loving cup, carries on one side, the inscription "Presented by A Friend With Kind regards" and on the other a small four line poem "When this you see remember me, And bear me in your mind, Let all the world say what they will, Speak of me as you find". Both of these texts are surrounded by elaborate gilt cartouches. The cup stands 138 mm (5.5 inches) high and has a diameter at the top of 136 mm (5.5 inches). This lovely sterling silver berry spoon by James and Josiah Williams of Exeter carries the date mark for 1861. The ornate decoration leads down the handle to the bowl which features, amongst other fruit, a pineapple, an orange and some grapes, with the bowl having been given a gilt wash. The length of the spoon is 234 mm (9.25 inches) and it weighs 87 gms (2.79 troy ounces). It is in very good condition.

This large Georgian sterling silver ladle carries the makers mark for Graham and McLean of Glasgow and was assayed in Edinburgh in 1801. It also carries a family crest, possibly Scottish, and the monogram I (or J) MB. It weighs 245 gms, (7.88 troy ounces) and measures 371 mm (14.5 inches) in length. It is in very good condition.

This Old Sheffield Plate caddy spoon was manufactured by stamping the shell shaped spoon from Old Sheffield Plate, and then applying cast silver decoration to the handle. The length is 72 mm (2.75 inches), the width 42 mm (1.75 inches) and the weight is 16 gms. There is some loss of silver to the high points on the back of the bowl. c 1800.

This very decorative sterling silver sifter spoon was made in by Charles Harris in London in 1889. On top of the barley twist handle is a cast silver figure. The spoon measures 153 mm (6 inches) from the top of the handle to the bowl. The bowl has a diameter of 50 mm (2 inches) and the spoon weighs 28 gms. It is in very good condition.

This pair of silver plated fish servers were made by Elkington & Co. They are quite weighty and are decorated with very ornate and very detailed engraving, more so on the fish slice which offers a broader area. The slice is 325 mm (12.75 inches) in length and the fork is 247 mm (9.75 inches). Both pieces are in very, very good condition and carry Elkington's date code for 1880.

This very attractive Minton hand painted trio is decorated with their pattern 2297 which consists of three sprays of flowers below a royal blue border. The top and bottom of the border is decorated with gilding in the shape of C scrolls and arabesques. There is also gilding to the handles and the outside of the cups. The cup shape is listed as "A Blenheim". There is some sign of use mainly to the gilding. C 1835.

This very pretty hand painted and gilded vase is attributed to Minton, from their "Gothic Pedestal Ornaments" range of the 1830's. It stands 161 mm (6 3/8ths inches) high and features a hand painted spray of flowers, in a gilt frame on an ochre coloured ground, beneath an arcaded rim. It is unmarked. There is some minor loss of gilding to the rim and some faint scratches to the ground.

This large hand painted and gilded centrepiece, or comport, from a dessert service was made by John Rose at Coalport in the 1820's. It is beautifully painted with sprays of flowers on the top, the under side and on the pierced foot. It stands 168 mm (6.75 inches) high , is 220 mm (8.75 inches) deep and 365 mm (14.5 inches) wide. It is unmarked, but it is shown in plate 179, page 166, of Godden's "British Porcelain An Illustrated Guide" together with other pieces...

A very attractive salt glazed stoneware jug from the Doulton Lambeth factory. It is decorated with a rather uncommon Egyptian theme. A pharaoh's head forms the spout and the wings of Horus spread either side of the base of the handle. These wings and all the figures in the central frieze are what is known as sprigged or sprigging. Clay is pressed into a very shallow mould, gently teased out, and then carefully applied by hand to the body of the jug, before the piece is fired and glazed...

An unframed KPM lithophane with a sentimental Victorian scene of a young girl doing her hair in a mirror. The main scene is in an oval cartouche, surrounded by arabesques. The rear is impressed with the KPM sceptre mark over KPM, the model number 407 and the letter Z. The width is 195 mm (7.75 inches) and the height is 155 mm (6.125 inches). There is a small shallow chip to the rear of one edge near the KPM mark, which cannot be seen from the front. C 1870.
