This finely moulded Ridgway porcelain teapot and stand is decorated with the hand coloured printed pattern 2/818, which features a large urn and scholars rocks amid floral Chinoiserie. It is unmarked, but corresponds to Plate 1798 in Miller and Berthoud's "An Anthology of British Teapots". It is also shown in Colour Plate 8 and Plate 96 in Godden's "Ridgway Porcelains". The teapot stands 160 mm (6.25 inches) to the top of the butterfly knop and the stand has a diameter of 183 mm (7.25 inches)...

The French silver mark showing the head of Minerva is stamped on the handle where it joins the blade. These ornately decorated silver plated asparagus servers are by Elkington & Co of Birmingham England. They measure 242 mm (9.5 inches) in length and 48 mm (1 7/8ths inches) at the widest point. They are in very good condition, with no actual wear to the silver, apart from some faint scratches, and the spring action is still strong. They carry Elkington's date letter for 1905.

This very decorative large copper jug features a pressed crocodile skin effect by way of decoration. On the base are stamped the number 8, indicating that it holds 8 pints, and the letters JS&S B. It was made by J. Sankey and Sons of Bilston, near Wolverhampton in the West Midlands of England. It stands 355 mm (14 inches) high and is in very, very good condition. It dates from around 1900.

This majolica glazed vase is made up of a ladies hand holding a bunch of bullrushes which forms the vase part. Her wrist is clothed in a ruffled sleeve, over which is a beaded bracelet, and she has an unusual ring on her index finger. The vase is unmarked. It stands 218 mm (8.5 inches) high and is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. It would date from around 1860.

The outside of this majolica bread plate or tray is encircled with the motto "Eat thy bread with thankfulness". Central to this plate is a representation of a basket which is surrounded by ears of wheat and foliage. This attractive oval majolica plate is decorated with a moulded decoration of overlapping vine leaves on a stippled ground. The piercings in the basketweave rim were done by hand when the clay was in its leather hard stage before firing. The length is 315 mm (12.5 inches) and the width is 245 mm (9.5 inches). The condition is very good apart from the obvious spots on the front where the glaze hasn't taken and some grit from the kiln has settled on the wet glaze...

This majolica jug by Mouzin, Lecat of Mons, Belgium, is decorated with moulded figures of men and women drinking and dancing under a large tree, outside a tavern. The tree trunk branches out to shelter the revellers, and then another branch becomes the gnarled handle. It stands 230 mm (9 inches) high and has a diameter at the base of 160 mm (6.25 inches). It is in very good condition apart from some very fine crazing. It would date from around 1890.

This Samson of Paris tea canister is decorated with faux armorial crest on one side and on the other with a spray of flowers. The lid is also decorated with a floral spray. The decoration of the piece is meant to resemble Chinese export ware of over a century before. The canister stands 152 mm (6 inches) high and has a diameter at the shoulder of 110 mm (4.25 inches). The condition is very good apart from a firing crack ex-factory that has been partially filled in the factory. C1890.

It is decorated to the centre with, what purports to be, the armorial, or family crest, of the Boyd family. This is surrounded with hand painted flowers and raised slip decoration. It is unmarked, but examples are shown in plates 54-7 of "Godden's Guide to European Porcelain". It measures 234 mm (9.25 inches) in diameter. The condition is very good.

This Wedgwood majolica comport is decorated with green, brown and yellow majolica glazes around a central panel of mottled glazes. The reticulated rim is echoed in the blind moulding to the foot. The diameter is 210 mm (8.25 inches) and it stands 64 mm (2.5 inches) high. The condition is very good, apart from some crazing. The white spot on the rim as seen in the photo below is where the glaze hasn't taken during the last firing. The date letter is for 1866.
