This hand painted and gilded eight piece dessert set by Grainger Worcester comprises two tazzas and six plates. The pattern number is 3358. The painting of roses in pastel colours could possibly be by George Cole (1863-1912) who used to paint flowers with only one firing involved. He transferred to Royal Worcester in 1902. The diameter of the plates is 220 mm (8.75 inches). The oval tazza is 280 mm (11 inches) long, 215 mm (8.5 inches) wide and 40 mm (1.5 inches) high...

This Grainger Worcester New Oval teapot is decorated with a hand painted pattern of leaves and berries. I think that the pattern number painted on the base is more likely to be 601, rather than 109. Otherwise, it is unmarked, but corresponds to plate 6 on page 47 of Henry and John Sandon's "Grainger's Worcester Porcelain" and plate 1002 of Berthoud's "A Directory of British Teapots". It measures 275 mm (10.75 inches) from spout to handle and stands 160 mm (6.25 inches) high...

This Worcester porcelain coffee cup was originally decorated with what is known as the 'Gold Queen's Pattern", a simple pattern of petal shapes done in gold. Sometime later, an external decorator has added the enamel flower sprays and the piece was re-fired. An indication that the piece has been refired is the presence of black specks that occur in unglazed or thinly glazed areas, like the base or footrim, and there is a small area of these specks inside the footrim...

The Ashbourne pattern (pattern 8524) that decorates this Shelley cake plate was designed by Walter Slater and introduced in 1912. It is on the Gainsborough shape and its condition is excellent. The colours and gilding are still vivid, however it does some very minor wear to a small area of enamel in the centre of the plate. C1912-6.

This lovely first period hand painted Worcester teapot has been decorated on either side with cartouches containing Chinese figures. These cartouches are surrounded by smaller cartouches containing flowers which originally would have been set in a gilded ground, but unfortunately most of the gilding has been worn away. Also there are two rather crude repairs to the lid and some damage to the knop, as shown in the photos. It stands 130 mm (5.25 inches) high. C 1770.
